UT Southern Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets at Point

Firehawks Show Fight But Drop Three Tightly Contested Sets on the Road

WEST POINT, Ga. - The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team battled hard on the road Saturday afternoon but came up short in a 3–0 loss to Point University (20–25, 22–25, 21–25) in West Point, Ga. The Firehawks now sit at 4–2 overall and 0–2 in Southern States Athletic Conference play.

Set One (20–25): The Firehawks came out strong, taking an early 6–3 lead behind kills from Beardsley and Kraft. Point responded with a mid-set push, capitalizing on UTS attack errors to build momentum. Despite Beardsley's late swings, the Skyhawks held on for the 25–20 win.

Set Two (22–25): Tennessee Southern regrouped and rallied from a 10–4 deficit, using a 9–1 run fueled by Ward, Kraft, and Mallozzi's serving to go ahead 15–13. Point answered back in the closing stretch, pulling away with timely kills to edge the Firehawks 25–22.

Set Three (21–25): A tight frame saw both teams exchange leads. Beardsley's kills and Garza's service ace trimmed the deficit late, but Point's balanced attack proved too much as UTS fell 25–21.
