PULASKI, Tenn. - The 10th-ranked University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Bob Jones University on Monday evening at Grissom Pitch. All four goals came in the opening half, as the Firehawks controlled possession and created numerous scoring opportunities while limiting the Bruins to just five total shots.
UT Southern wasted no time establishing its presence. Hikaru Uchida opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a composed penalty kick. Less than 25 minutes later, the Firehawks exploded offensively—Mia Saum found the net in the 35th minute off a Riho Masuya assist, followed by Uchida's second goal of the night just 36 seconds later. Karla Montiel capped the first-half scoring surge in the 39th minute, finishing off a feed from Caroline Hathcox.
The Firehawks rotated their lineup heavily in the second half while maintaining defensive stability. Goalkeepers Stephanie Hodgson and Abby Guy combined for a shutout, with Hodgson earning the win.
