FOLEY, Ala. – The No. 10-ranked UT Southern Firehawks wrapped up their appearance at the Orange Beach Classic on Saturday morning, falling to the nation's top-ranked Keiser Seahawks, 3-0, at the Foley Sports Complex. Despite a strong defensive effort, the Firehawks were unable to slow down the top-ranked program as Keiser capitalized on their scoring opportunities.
Keiser opened the scoring in the 8th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. The Firehawks worked hard to respond and generated their first shot on goal in the 21st minute when Charlotte Taylor tested the keeper with a well-placed strike.
Keiser extended its lead late in the first half, finding the net again in the 39th minute to make it 2-0 at the break.
The Firehawks came out with renewed energy in the second half, earning an early corner and pushing numbers forward. However, Keiser added a third goal in the 56th minute, sealing the 3-0 result.
