PULASKI, Tenn. – The No. 20 UT Southern Men's Tennis team and UT Southern Women's Tennis team both hosted Milligan on Saturday at the D. Ann Neville Tennis Complex.
MEN'S TENNIS
Milligan defeated No. 20 UT Southern 4-0.
In doubles play, Luis Cupertino de Santana and Ayden Kousis battled at No. 1 doubles in a tightly contested match that ended unfinished at 5-4. Quentin Ferron and Brock Hamilton competed at No. 2, while Lucca Roveda and Daiki Ishii rounded out doubles at No. 3.
In singles action, De Santana competed at the top spot and pushed his match deep before falling 4-6, 6-5. Brock Hamilton played at No. 2 singles, while Ferron competed at No. 3 and forced extended play in his matchup. Kousis represented the Firehawks at No. 4 singles, Roveda played at No. 5, and Ishii competed at No. 6 to complete the lineup.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
Milligan defeated UT Southern 4-1.
UT Southern earned a doubles victory at the No. 2 position, where Sienna Ruberto and Agota Juozapaviciute secured a 6-1 win. Ali Hamilton and Maggie Barnett competed at No. 1 doubles, while Sofi Rueda and Maya Balle played at No. 3.
In singles play, Agota Juozapaviciute delivered the Firehawks' point with a strong 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles. At No. 2 singles, Sienna Ruberto fell via retirement. Maya Balle competed at No. 1 singles, Natalia Vergara played at No. 4, Sofi Rueda represented UT Southern at No. 5, and Maggie Barnett rounded out the lineup at No. 6.
Both teams will return to action on Friday, February 27, when the Firehawks host Christian Brothers at the D. Ann Neville Tennis Complex.
