UT Southern Women’s Tennis Splits Day Across Three Matches

Firehawks Face Brescia, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Oakland City

OWENSBORO, Ky. / EVANSVILLE, Ind. – UT Southern Women's Tennis completed a full three-match slate on Saturday, February 7, opening the day in Owensboro, Kentucky against Brescia University and Kentucky Wesleyan University before closing the night in Evansville, Indiana against Oakland City University.

UT Southern opened the day with a 4-1 loss to Brescia in Owensboro. The Firehawks picked up their lone doubles win at the No. 3 position, where Sienna Ruberto and Agota Juozapaviciute earned a convincing victory. In singles play, UT Southern secured wins at three spots in the lineup, as Juozapaviciute, Maggie Barnett, and Sydney Kentish each collected singles victories to keep the match competitive throughout the afternoon.

The Firehawks responded later in the day with a 4-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan. UT Southern claimed the doubles point with victories at No. 1 doubles from Sheyla Zombrano and Ali Hamilton and at No. 3 doubles by Mailyss Quenelle and Bailey Cantrell. In singles action, UT Southern added wins from Maya Balle at No. 2, Ana Sofia Olano at No. 5, and Jennifer James at No. 6 to secure the team victory.

UT Southern wrapped up the long day with a 4-0 loss to Oakland City in Evansville. The Firehawks earned a doubles win at the No. 3 position, as Ruberto and Juozapaviciute battled through a hard-fought match. In singles play, UT Southern saw strong efforts across the lineup, with Sofi Rueda and Agota Juozapaviciute pushing their matches deep.

UT Southern will return home for its next match on Thursday, February 12, hosting Southeast Missouri State at the D. Ann Neville Tennis Complex.
