PULASKI, Tenn. – Tennessee Southern softball earned national recognition in the first regular-season NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, receiving votes in the latest rankings released by the national office.
The Firehawks collected 44 points in the receiving votes category, placing them just outside the Top 25 as they continue their strong start to the 2026 season.
UT Southern opened the year with a 10-0 start, finishing just shy of the best start in program history. The program's modern-era record came in 2007 when the Firehawks opened the season 11-0.
The Firehawks have leaned on a balanced attack early in the season, featuring explosive offense and strong pitching performances that have powered several dominant wins.
UT Southern is one of several teams from the Southern States Athletic Conference to appear in the poll or receiving votes category. Mobile checked in at No. 20, while William Carey was ranked No. 22. Faulkner also appeared in the receiving votes section.
Southern Oregon claimed the No. 1 spot in the poll behind 11 first-place votes. Eastern Oregon moved up to No. 2, followed by Oklahoma City at No. 3, Oregon Tech at No. 4, and Science and Arts (Okla.) rounding out the top five.
The Firehawks continue their season this week as they travel to Gulf Shores, Ala., for the Gulf Shores Invitational, where UT Southern will face Morningside and Campbellsville.
