PULASKI, Tenn. – The UT Southern men's soccer team continued its strong start to the 2026 season Friday night, defeating Bryan College 2-0 at Grissom Pitch to improve to 2-0 on the year.
After a scoreless first half despite controlling much of the action, the Firehawks broke through in the 69th minute and added an insurance goal less than 10 minutes later to secure the shutout victory.
UT Southern dominated possession and created chances throughout the evening, outshooting Bryan 22-3 and holding a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Firehawks also earned five corner kicks while limiting the Lions to just two.
The breakthrough came in the 69th minute when Christian Sentz finished a pass from David Danquah for the first goal of the match and his first of the season.
The Firehawks doubled their lead in the 79th minute as Jinto Kanagase found the back of the net off an assist from Sentz, scoring his first goal of the season and giving UT Southern a comfortable 2-0 advantage.
Danquah was a constant threat in the attack, registering a team-high six shots and assisting on the opening goal. Sentz finished with a goal and an assist, while Kanagase added his first tally of the campaign.
Defensively, the Firehawks were equally impressive. Goalkeeper William McGinn recorded two saves and earned his first shutout of the season as UT Southern limited Bryan to just three total shots.
