KANSAS CITY, Mo. (3/23) - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2010-11 Division I Men's Basketball All-America Teams on Wednesday, including MMC's James Justice (Junior/Memphis, Tenn.) with a First Team nod, and Ree McCrory (Junior/Columbus, Tenn.) named to the Honorable Mention team. The selections are made by the NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches' Association All-America Committee and comprises a First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention Team. There are 10 members on each of the first three All-America teams.
Justice, the TranSouth Player and Newcomer of the Year, alongside McCrory, led the RedHawks to the Fab Four at this year's NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Championship. The RedHawks, who won the regular season and postseason championships in the TranSouth, finished with a school-record 34 wins and are the first TranSouth men's basketball team to reach the Fab Four.
Justice finished the season ranked in the NAIA top ten in both assists (184) and steal (87), averaging 15 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in his junior campaign. A 50.1 percent shooter from the field, Justice led MMC's everyday players with a 41.3 percent from long range. Justice's three-point buzzer beater capture the TranSouth Championship for MMC, and his performance at the 2011 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Championships earned him an All-Tournament Team selection.
McCrory, who led this year's team in scoring with 15.3 points, drained 27 total points to match his season-high in MMC's final game against Pikeville in the Fab Four, and also was selected to the All-Tournament Team. The junior averaged 4.5 rebounds per game, tallying 67 total steals and 127 assists on the season. His 72.7 percent from the free throw line was the best among MMC starters this season, as he averaged a team-high 31.5 minutes per game.
MMC's best season in program history ended on March 21, as the RedHawks fell to eventual National Champion, Pikeville College.
