RedHawks Win Third, Fourth Straight

TAMPA, Fla. – The Martin Methodist Volleyball team picked up two more wins this week as it defeated Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) at home on Tuesday and rallied to defeat Florida College on the road Friday night.

The RedHawks (12-9, 6-2 SSAC) made quick work of Freed-Hardeman in a 3-0 victory on Tuesday and overcame a third-set slipup in a 3-1 SSAC win versus Florida College on Friday.

The wins marked the third and fourth straight for the RedHawks, who improved to 4-0 in the month of October.

The RedHawks now play three straight home contests, beginning with a Wednesday matchup versus Bethel (Tenn.).

Martin Methodist 3, Freed-Hardeman 0:

The RedHawks opened their week in style with an easy victory versus their old in-state rival Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.). The RedHawks won the first two sets by 25-20 and 25-23 margins but cruised in the third in a 25-16 victory.

Sabrie Sirmones and Kaitlyn Lund led the RedHawks with 14 and 12 kills apiece. The duo hit at a high clip as Sirmones posted a .314 attack percentage, while Lund converted at a .500 clip.

Sydney Arnold accounted for 35 of the team's 39 total assists while adding six digs and one block.

Defensively, Hayley Brisendine recorded 17 digs while Samantha Davenport added 11 digs. Bobbi Anduha also added nine digs in the victory.

Martin Methodist 3, Florida College 1:

The RedHawks capped their weekend with their first-ever visit to Florida College and came away with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory.

The RedHawks won the hard-fought road matchup, which saw all four sets decided by three or fewer points.

Lauren Martin led the RedHawk attack with 18 kills on 45 attempts and a .267 attacking percentage. Sabrie Sirmones flanked Martin with 14 kills, while Chandler Salvig posted nine kills on the night.

Sydney Arnold accounted for 43 of the team's 49 assists, while the junior also added 12 digs on the night.

The RedHawks posted 89 digs as a team, led by Hayley Brisendine's 26 defensive stops. Sabrie Sirmones added 14 digs and Kaitlyn Lund accounted for 10 more.
