Box Score Portsmouth, Ohio - The Tennessee Southern Firehawks had their second consecutive clean sheet after posting a 3-0 victory over Shawnee State tonight.
The Firehawks(6-5, 3-2 MSC) added two fast goals in the first half. Alejandro Blanco scored in the 6th minute off the boot of Mario Lopez. Lopez would score from the Manuel Santos assist just minutes later. The Firehakws would lead 8-2 in shots for the first half.
Lopez would complete a brace in the 80th minute from an assist by Tiago Lopes. UTS would outshoot the Bears 17-5.
Goalkeeper Murray played a full 90 minutes for the Firehawks and recording two saves on five shots on goal.
Coach Brian Davies commented on the quality win, "We started off tonight's game excellent and really put them on their back foot for most of the half. To get the two goals early really set the pace for the rest of the game. They made it difficult on us and never stopped fighting. It was great to get the quality goals we earned and to keep another clean sheet. Can't say enough about the boys performance tonight. Great three points to get in the conference."
