Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team opened their weekend series with #8 Georgia Gwinnett with a nine-inning loss by the score of 6-5. UTS dug a hole in the first five innings but charged back to threaten late scoring all five runs in the final four innings. The Firehawks would strand both the tying and go-ahead runs on the basepaths
FIREHAWK FACTS
- Both Collin Huntley and Lance Pope would reach base safely four times. Huntley had four hits. Pope blasted a three-run bomb with a pair of singles and a hit-by-pitch
- UTS drew two free passes while striking out 16 times.
- The Firehawks left 11 ducks on the pond.
- Tristan Carson worked three and two-thirds innings. Carson allowed four runs on four hits. He would drop the decision and fall to 0-6.
NUMBERS GAME
6 – Carson would record six strikeouts in 3.2 innings.
3 – Pope would drive in three runs on a homer in the sixth.
1 – Josh Simmons would only allow one runner on base via a walk in two innings of work.
4 – Huntley would record four hits in his first four at-bats.
