PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team swept its first four-game series this weekend hosting Indiana University-South Bend at Bobby Walker Field. UTS took game three 5-3 and game four 10-6.

GAME THREE

Michael Wurtz put the good guys in front with a rbi ground out that plated Landon Rogers. UTS led 1-0 after one.

Wurtz would add a pair of runs on with his double in the third that scored Brantley Holden and Sam Bowling. Ty Garrett would single scoring Wurtz padding the Firehawk lead to 4-0 after three.

Holden's single in the sixth added an insurance run scoring Devin Buckhaulter. UTS would head to the final inning with a 5-3 lead.

Tray Lacy would cash in on the starting nod hurling 5.0 innings. He allowed two hits, two earned runs, and fanned nine. Weston Horton closed the game out earning his first save of the year.  

GAME FOUR

Josh Porter's single put the Firehawks up in the first scoring Rogers and Noah Junker.

Junker would single in the second scoring Chandler Jordan. Cannon Raby would extend the inning scoring Junker. Rogers reached on an error that would plate Raby. Porter would drive in Rogers to lift UTS up 6-2 after two.

Grayson Willis would draw a free pass, but the uncontrolled wild pitch would plate Holden and Janzen Powell. Willis would also advance to second extending the lead to 8-3.

In the bottom of the sixth, Rogers would crush a 2 run bomb scoring Raby.

Joe Hicks would get the start. Hicks would hurl 3.1 innings allowing one earned run, two hits, and would strike out three. Josh Simmons would toss 3.2 innings in relief earning the win. Simmons allowed two hits and fanned four.

The Firehawks will host St. Francis of Indiana at Bobby Walker Field on Friday, February 17th beginning at 1 p.m.
