PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball played former Mid-South Conference rival #18 the University of the Cumberlands on Saturday. The Firehawks trailed by one with under 10 minutes to play, but the Patriots put together a 10-2 run down the stretch to evade the Firehawk comeback winning 91-83.
Five Firehawks scored in double figures with
Mark Vance leading UTS with a career high 30 points and eight rebounds.
Kiah Key added 14 points.
Mike Bell, Jr. pitched in 13 points.
Vito Vujovic narrowly missed a double double for the second straight night contributing 10 points and nine boards.
Eric Robinson also added 10 points.
The Firehawks out shot Pats 85 to 67 percent from the charity stripe, and UTS would clean the glass controlling the boards 36-15.
BY THE NUMBERS
23 – The Firehawks cashed in on 23 of 27 free shots shooting 85 percent.
18 – UTS turned over the ball twice as much as UC
