HENDERSON, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team closed the FHU Invitational on Saturday with a pair of losses. The Firehawks fell in a marathon five setter vs Fisk and fell in straight sets to host Freed-Hardeman.
UTS VS FISK
UT Southern (1-3) won the opening set and the third set but couldn't close the match out in the fourth set. Fisk took a pair of tight sets 23-25 and 21-25. Heading to the final set, both teams tossed the lead back and forth. The Firehawks held a late lead at 15-14 but a timely pause by the Bulldogs led to a 15-17 loss in the rubber set.

UTS AT FREED-HARDEMAN
UT Southern (1-4) couldn't overcome several key runs by the Lions in the opening set falling 16-25. In the second set, the Firehawks lead in the early going of the second set, but another long run by Freed derailed the Firehawk chance to take set two. The final set was a see-saw match, but the Lions held on to win the match.

The Firehawks will open Southern States Athletic Conference play hosting William Carey on September 6th, at the CAC. The first serve is set for six p.m.
