MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team braved the remnants of hurricane Helene to battle Faulkner. The Eagles took the match in four sets on Friday.
UT Southern (5-7, 2-3) fell behind early as the home team opened a 12-5 lead. UT Southern fought back to drop set one 20-25. In the second set, Faulkner started out taking 10 of the first 15 points. UTS battled back to trail 15-16, but the Eagles would outscore the Firehawks 9-5 to take a two-set lead. In the third set, both teams would trade the lead back and forth in a set that would see 10 ties. Fighting off being swept, UTS ran off the final two points to force a set four. In the final set, Faulkner started on a 7-0 run, but the Firehawks outscored the Eagles 11-4 to tie the set. Faulkner would take 14 of the final 22 points to take the match.

The Firehawks will travel to Mobile, Ala., to battle the Rams in an SSAC match up on Saturday, September 28
th. Mobile swept UT Southern earlier in the season in Pulaski. The first serve between the Firehawks and Rams is scheduled for one p.m.
