MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Southern States Athletic Conference announced its Volleyball Players of the Week for October 6–11, with UT Southern's Ashlee Kraft earning SSAC Attacker of the Week honors. This marks the first SSAC weekly award of Kraft's career.
The junior outside hitter from Redding, Calif., delivered a dominant performance across a 2-0 week for the Firehawks. Kraft recorded a career-high 27 kills in UT Southern's thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Point, attacking at a .292 clip while adding 13 digs and two aces.
She preceded that performance with 10 kills in a sweep of Oakwood, closing the week with 37 total kills (4.63 per set) as the Firehawks extended their winning momentum.
Kraft becomes the first UT Southern player this season to receive SSAC weekly recognition.
The Firehawks return to action on Wednesday, October 17, traveling to Blue Mountain Christian in Blue Mountain, Miss., after tonight's match with Oakwood was postponed.
