PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern is proud to announce the hiring of David Hill as the Assistant Men's and Women's Swimming Coach for the 2025–26 season.
Hill joins the Firehawks' program with over 15 years of experience in aquatics and coaching, having worked with more than 4,000 swimmers across various levels of the sport. His extensive background includes leadership roles such as Vice President of Aquatics and Head Coach within both summer and year-round programs. Throughout his career, Hill has developed athletes from the grassroots level to Olympic Trials qualifiers, as well as multiple state champions, national qualifiers, and Scholastic All-Americans.
Vice Chancellor for Athletics Brandie Paul commented on the hire, noting Hill's experience and commitment to student development.
"David Hill is a tremendous addition to our athletics family. His expertise, leadership, and innovative approach to athlete development align perfectly with our mission at UT Southern. We are thrilled to welcome him to Pulaski."
A respected educator and innovator in the swimming community, Hill is the founder of Elite Swim Training (EST)—a performance brand dedicated to advancing the sport through books, courses, and technology. He has authored over 17 books, including The College Swimming Guide: Recruiting, Training, and Thriving – The Roadmap to College Swimming Success, and continues to expand his work through online courses and app development.
Head Coach Trevor Trimpe expressed his enthusiasm about the addition of Hill to the coaching staff.

Hill holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Health and Physical Education and a Master of Science in Education in Sport Management, both from the University of Kansas. He also earned a nursing degree from Johnson County Community College and is currently completing his Ed.D. in Sport Leadership at Concordia University Chicago, where his research focuses on swimming and coaching.
Hill shared his excitement for the opportunity to join the Firehawks.

Throughout his career, Hill has been selected to coach All-Star and Zones teams, directed swim camps and clinics, and developed learn-to-swim curricula for both community and competitive programs. His coaching philosophy emphasizes technical precision, mental resilience, and long-term athlete development.
