UT Southern Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets at Loyola

Firehawks Show Late Fight in Competitive Road Loss

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Tennessee Southern women's volleyball team dropped a tough road match to Loyola University on Friday evening, falling 3–0 (19–25, 13–25, 23–25) at The Den in New Orleans.

UT Southern battled throughout the night, led by Ashlee Kraft with seven kills, one ace, and a block assist for 8.5 total points. Emma Beardsley and Olivia Ward each added six kills, while Jelleny Mallozzi distributed 20 assists, chipped in three service aces, and tallied seven digs. Isabella Garza led the Firehawks defensively with 11 digs, while Amree Patterson and Irby Norris contributed four and three kills, respectively.

The Firehawks posted a team hitting percentage of .128, with their strongest offensive set coming in the third at .212. Loyola countered with an efficient .372 attack rate, using consistent passing and front-line defense to maintain momentum in each set.

With the loss, UT Southern falls to 10–8 overall and 5–6 in SSAC play, while Loyola improves to 21–7 and 9–3 in the conference.

The Firehawks will look to bounce back on Saturday, October 25, when they travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to take on William Carey University at 1 p.m.
