MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced its 2025 men's cross country postseason awards on Friday afternoon following the championship meet, with several UT Southern student-athletes earning recognition for their outstanding performances on the course and in the classroom.
Freshman standout Frankline Kipruto headlined the awards for the Firehawks, being named both SSAC Runner of the Year and Freshman of the Year after a dominant debut season that included winning the conference championship and setting a new course record. Kipruto was also named to the First-Team All-Conference and the All-Freshman Team.
Joining him on the First-Team All-Conference was Amon Rotich, who delivered a strong performance at the championship to help lead UT Southern to a top team finish.
In the classroom, UT Southern placed five runners on the Athletic Solutions All-Academic Team: Matthew Andrea, Jay Carroll, Amon Rotich, Daniel Sanchez, and Cameron Stovall.
Additionally, Jay Carroll represented the Firehawks on the Champions of Character Team, recognized for exemplifying the NAIA's core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
It was a historic weekend for the Firehawks, capped by Kipruto and Rotich earning First-Team All-Conference honors and Kipruto's sweep of the league's top individual awards. Both Frankline Kipruto and Amon Rotich also qualified as individuals for the upcoming NAIA National Championship.
