NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team closed out the Southern States Athletic Conference opening series with Loyola on Saturday. UTS fell 16-7 dropping the series 2-1 to the WolfPack. UTS moved to 6-5 on the year and 1-2 in league play.
GAME THREE: LOYOLA 16, UTS 7
Loyola got on the board in the first and led 2-0 after one.
Devin Buckhalter answered back in the second blasting a two run bomb scoring
Cannon Raby. Loyola rained on the Firehawk parade scoring five in the second. UTS trailed 7-2 after two.
In the third,
Coleman Siniard singled to left driving in
Cody Womble.
Zach Chaney put a ball in play allowing
Brayden Buckner to score. Loyola led 9-4 after three.
In the sixth, UT Southern added two runs on a
Gattis Henley single that allowed Raby and
Mason Billions to score. UTS trailed 15-6 after six innings.
Siniard later hit a solo shot drawing the Firehawks closer to trail 15-7.
Ridge Raper (1-1) took the loss. He worked three innings allowing eight runs.
Blake Medley worked two innings allowing two earned runs.
Tavien Tigg allowed four runs.
Jackson Moon tossed one inning allowing one earned run.
Danton Rinehart pitched one inning allowing two hits.
Jake Stuteville worked the eighth allowing one run on two hits.

The Firehawks return home to Bobby Walker Field hosting Cumberland on Tuesday, February 18
th. First pitch is set for three p.m.
