WEST POINT, Ga. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball concluded the conference series with Point on Friday. The Firehawks fell in game two 10-2 and lost the third game 9-4. UTS moved to 9-18 overall and 2-13 in league play on the year.
GAME TWO: PU 10, UTS 2
UT Southern scored two runs in the second.
Coleman Siniard launched a solo homer. A few batters later,
Devin Buckhalter singled to drive in
Evan Nelson.
Chambers McGilberry (3-3) tossed two innings allowing three earned runs on four hits.
Jake Stuteville worked the final four innings allowing seven earned runs on nine hits.
GAME THREE: PU 9, UTS 4
UT Southern got on the board in the second inning when
Cole Barnett scored on a wild pitch. On the same play,
Jamil Betancourt and
Cannon Raby each scored on a throwing error. UTS led 3-1 after two innings.
In the third,
Brayden Buckner left the yard with a solo home run. UTS led 4-1 after three.
Point scattered eight runs between the sixth and eighth innings to put the game out of reach.
Barrett Brown (1-5) tossed six innings in the start. He allowed five earned runs on seven hits.
Blake Medley tossed one inning allowing two earned runs on one hit.
Hunter Hancock recorded the final three outs giving up one earned run.
NEXT UP
The Firehawks will return to Bobby Walker Field on Tuesday, March 18th, to battle the Chargers of the University of Alabama-Huntsville. First pitch is set for five p.m.
