PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball took on NCAA DII Alabama-Huntsville on Tuesday night at Bobby Walker Field. The Firehawks fell 14-10 in a high scoring battle. UTS moved to 9-19 overall on the year.
UAH batted around in the first scoring seven runs. UT Southern answered back putting up a four-spot.
Cody Womble put a hard ground ball in play that led to
Devin Buckhalter scoring on a Charger error. A couple batters later,
Cole Barnett left the yard driving in Womble and
Collin Perkins. UTS trailed 7-4 after one.
In the third, both teams added a solo home run.
Brayden Buckner launched a space shot out of "the Bob".
Cannon Raby laced one back up the middle scoring Womble as UTS trailed 8-6 after three.
The visitors added runs in the fourth and fifth adding to their lead of 11-6.
In the eighth, UAH added a run on a wild pitch. UT Southern got one back when
Coleman Siniard reached on a fielder's choice and an error by UAH on the play allowed Barnett to score. UTS trailed 12-7 heading to the ninth.
In the ninth, both teams would score again. In the Firehawk ninth, Barnett smashed a three-run round tripper scoring Henley and
Sebastian Matlock.
Jackson Moon (0-1),
Weston Horton, and
Blake Medley all pitched in the first. Medley worked 2.2 innings allowing one earned run fanning five batters.
Caiden Rodgers worked one inning allowing one earned run on two hits.
Austin Uptain allowed two earned runs on one hit working two-thirds of an inning.
Zach Neill tossed 1.1 innings allowing one hit.
Ridge Raper worked the seventh striking our two Charger batters.
Cooper Bailey tossed the eighth allowing one earned run on one hit. Womble hurled the ninth allowing two earned runs on one hit.

The Firehawks will hit the road traveling to Lawrenceville, Ga., for a weekend series with #3 Georgia Gwinnett beginning on Friday, March 21
st. First pitch is set for four p.m.
