PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team closed out the weekend series with the Rams of the University of Mobile on Friday. The Firehawks took game two 6-4 and fell in game three 11-5. UTS improved to 12-23 overall and 4-14 in league play on the season.
GAME TWO: UTS 6, UM 4
Cole Barnett got the Firehawks ignited in the second with a two run shot to left center. His blast scored
Gage Beckner. Later in the inning,
Cannon Raby lifted one out over the center field wall. His moonshot scored
Evan Nelson and
Mason Billions. UTS led 5-0 after two.
In the third, Barnett hit a solo shot to center. UTS left 6-0 after three.
Mobile had a big inning in the fourth plating four runs.
Ridge Raper (2-6) tossed the complete game allowing one earned run. He gave up nine hits and struck out six.
GAME THREE: UM 11, UTS 5
Brayden Buckner reached on a fielder's choice that created a scoring opportunity off a Ram error. Raby scored on the miscue. UTS led 1-0 after one.
Mobile scored three runs in the top of the third. The Firehawks added three of their own to retake the lead. Buckner hit a sacrifice fly driving in
Devin Buckhalter. Barnett singled to left center driving in Raby.
Collin Perkins hit a ground ball plating
Cody Womble. UTS lef 4-3 heading to the fourth.
Mobile added two in the fifth and six in the sixth to lead 11-4.
Womble singled to right in the eighth driving in Raby.
Chambers McGilberry (3-5) tossed five innings allowing four earned runs and striking out seven.
Barrett Brown and
Jackson Moon tossed the sixth. They allowed six runs combined.
Austin Uptain worked 1.1 innings issuing one free pass.
Zach Neill tossed one inning allowing one hit.
Cooper Bailey recorded the final two outs fanning one Ram hitter.
