MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team closed out their season series with SSAC foe Faulkner on Friday. The Firehawks took game one 4-3 and fell in game two 8-1. The Firehawks improved to 23-13 overall and 11-9 in conference play.
GAME ONE: UTS 4, FLKN 3
The Eagles struck first in the opening frame, scoring two runs.
In the third, UTS exploded by plating four runs.
Kassidy Davis singled to right driving in
Haley McDaniel and
Hanna Hill.
Mikayla McCain doubled to left center scoring Davis.
Marie Bodily followed with a double to left center driving in McCain. UTS led 4-1 after three.
Faulkner scored their final run in the fourth.
Singletary (9-6) tossed the complete game allowing three runs on nine hits.
GAME TWO: FLKN 9, UTS 1
In game two, the Firehawks trailed early 8-0 after Falkner eight runs across the first three innings.
In the fifth, Bodily's single to left scored
Lauren Pettie. UTS trailed 8-1 after five.
Stella Gilbreath (7-7) took the loss tossing two innings allowing five earned runs. Davis worked the third allowing one earned run.
Macey Ciramella hurled the final three innings striking out two and not allowing a hit.
NEXT UP
The Firehawks are back in action on Tuesday, April 15, battling Freed-Hardeman University at Royce Hughes Field. The double header is scheduled to start at three p.m.
