MONTGOMERY, Ala. – UT Southern's Frankline Kipruto has been named the SSAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Sept. 22-28. The freshman from Eldoret, Kenya, earns his first career conference honor after an impressive performance on a national stage.
Kipruto competed at the Florida State XC Invitational, which featured a highly competitive field of NCAA programs. He crossed the line 28th overall out of 333 runners, clocking a time of 25:32 in the 8K race. The effort helped cement his place as one of the league's rising stars early in his collegiate career.
On the women's side, Kaedyn Wilson of Blue Mountain Christian earned SSAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Wilson, a freshman from Clinton, Miss., placed 2nd at the Topper Trails Classic with a time of 19:30.32 in the 5K race.
