UT Southern Nears Top 25 in Latest Coaches’ Poll

12-Game Winning Streak Fuels Continued National Attention

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Tennessee Southern continues to build national momentum, earning 46 points and remaining in the receiving votes category in the latest NAIA Women's Basketball Top 25 Poll as the regular season begins to wind down.

The Firehawks' continued presence in the poll conversation comes during one of the strongest stretches of the season, highlighted by a 12-game winning streak and a statement victory earlier this year over then-unbeaten Bethel (Tenn.), a result that continues to resonate nationally as the Wildcats remain in the top three of the poll.

UT Southern's recent surge has been fueled by a defensive identity that ranks among the most disruptive in the NAIA, paired with balanced scoring and depth across the rotation. The Firehawks have consistently controlled tempo, limited opponents' scoring opportunities, and turned defensive pressure into transition offense throughout conference play.

The Firehawks were last ranked nationally in January of 2020, when the program—then competing as Martin Methodist—appeared at No. 24 and No. 25 during January. Now competing under the UT Southern banner, the Firehawks continue to push toward a return to the Top 25, drawing increased attention from voters with each passing week.

Nationally, Dordt (Iowa) remains the unanimous No. 1 for the second straight ranking, followed closely by Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) and Bethel (Tenn.) at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Significant movement throughout the middle of the poll underscores how narrow the margin has become between ranked teams and those just outside the Top 25.

As the final stretch of the regular season approaches, UT Southern remains firmly in the national conversation, positioning itself as one of the NAIA's most dangerous teams outside the rankings.
