NEW ORLEANS, La. - The UT Southern cheer team competed Friday, February 6 at the Battle in the Big Easy, hosted by Xavier University, finishing second overall in a strong field of collegiate programs.

Xavier claimed the team title with a score of 94.1, while the Firehawks posted an 83.3 to secure runner-up honors. St. Xavier followed in third at 77.8, with Our Lady of the Lake (75.9), Simpson (74.8) and Langston (74.4) rounding out the standings.

UT Southern delivered an energetic routine that showcased growth across building and tumbling elements, continuing the team's steady progress early in the championship season.

The Firehawks return to action this weekend in a dual competition hosted by Life University in Marietta, Georgia, as they continue preparation for postseason competition.
