HENDERSON, Nev. – The UT Southern men's and women's golf teams competed this week at the RMC Intercollegiate held at Lake Las Vegas, turning in several strong individual performances against a competitive field.
The Firehawk men finished third overall in the nine-team field, posting rounds of 294–296–298 for a three-round total of 888 (+24). UT Southern placed behind UBC Okanagan and Science and Arts (Okla.) in the final standings.
Jack Brockie paced the Firehawks with a top-10 finish, tying for eighth overall at +3 with rounds of 75–69–75 (219). Brockie's second-round 69 was one of the lowest rounds of the tournament and helped propel him into the top 10.
Tyler Wilson also cracked the top 10, tying for 10th with rounds of 71–76–73 (220) to finish at +4 for the tournament.
Ethan Lunsford and Nathan Calahan each tied for 28th overall with identical totals of 229 (+13). Lunsford recorded rounds of 75–76–78, while Calahan carded scores of 73–75–81.
Luke Mattox rounded out the Firehawks' lineup with a tie for 34th after posting rounds of 80–81–72 (233). Mattox closed the tournament with the team's best round of the final day, firing an even-par 72.
On the women's side, UT Southern finished fourth in the eight-team field with rounds of 341–328–321 to finish with a total of 990 (+126). The Firehawks improved in each round throughout the tournament, posting their best team score in the final round.
Iona Pollitt led the Firehawks with an eighth-place finish, carding rounds of 86–71–80 (237) to finish at +21. Pollitt's second-round 71 was one of the lowest rounds in the field during the tournament.
Maryssa Phillips finished tied for 14th with rounds of 88–85–75 (248), improving each day and closing with a strong 75 in the final round.
Tatyana Greene finished tied for 21st after posting scores of 86–84–85 (255), while Savannah Sandlin placed 24th with rounds of 85–88–86 (259).
Harper Quick rounded out the Firehawks lineup, finishing 28th with scores of 84–97–81 (262).
UT Southern will return to the course March 16 when the Firehawks host the Firehawk Spring Invitational at RTJ The Shoals in Ford City, Ala.
