MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the 2025-26 SSAC Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, with UT Southern's Ramie Reid earning recognition among the conference's top performers in the classroom and on the court.
Reid, a key contributor for the Firehawks, highlighted UT Southern's presence on the list while also standing out academically, posting a perfect 4.0 GPA to lead all honorees. Her achievement reflects the strong balance of excellence that defines the Firehawk program.
On the court, Reid played a pivotal role in UT Southern's historic 2025-26 season, helping guide the Firehawks to a 23-7 record, a runner-up finish in the SSAC Championship, and the program's first-ever NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship victory. Her performance earned her Second-Team All-Conference honors, further solidifying her impact as one of the league's top players.

Loyola's Deniya Thornton was named the 2025-26 SSAC Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year after an outstanding season both academically and athletically.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete Team, student-athletes must be sophomores or above in both academic and athletic standing, maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA, and compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
UT Southern continues to showcase excellence in both academics and athletics, with Reid's recognition adding to a growing list of achievements for the Firehawks program.
