JACKSON, Tenn. - Martin Methodist College softball will face elimination on Thursday, May 3rd at 4:00pm against Bethel University after a 7-3 loss to Mid-Continent on Wednesday evening.
The Cougars jumped aboard in the first and second innings, with two runs in each to put a 4-0 lead over the RedHawks. In the third inning, however, a leadoff walk and a bunt single from Chrissy Worth would put two on for hot-hitter Katlin White, who launched one over the fence for three-runs, extending her hit streak to 13 games.
Worth, in pitching for starter Chrissy Darnell, worked out of a fourth inning jam, stranding two runners with a strike out. The fifth and sixth innings, however, became problems when MCU tacked one on in the fifth, then added two in the sixth.
The MMC offense would fall short to a 7-3 loss, unable to string together their seven hits for much-needed runs.
Darnell suffered the loss, going 1.2 innings with six hits and four runs, while Worth would strikeout three in 5.1 innings of work, giving up three runs on six hits.
Martin Methodist's Thursday contest will be live on Dakstats, accessible through the TranSouth homepage at www.transouth.org.
