MONTGOMERY, Ala. – UT Southern catcher Mikayla McCain was recognized for her excellence on the field and in the classroom, earning selection to the 2026 SSAC Softball Scholar-Athlete Team.
McCain represented the Firehawks among the conference's top student-athletes after another standout season behind the plate and in the lineup. The honor recognizes sophomore-and-above student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA while serving as starters or key contributors for their programs.
Faulkner's Chloe Davidson repeated as the SSAC Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year after posting a 3.97 GPA as a health sciences major while also earning SSAC Co-Player of the Year honors.

To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must be sophomores or above academically and athletically, maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA, compete in at least 50 percent of competitions, and be a starter or key reserve. Graduate students and transfers must also complete one semester at their institution before becoming eligible.
