MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A total of seven Martin Methodist Men's Soccer players received hardware Wednesday night as the 2014 Southern States Athletic Conference All-Conference teams were announced at the league's official awards banquet.

Stephen Lunney, Daniel Dunleavy, Michael Fulton and Kenneth Monge all earned First Team berths while Jonathan Remond and Juan Madrigal took home second team honors.
Lunney earned his berth after guiding the RedHawks to eight victories, six of which were shutouts. The senior played over 1,400 minutes in net this season and registered 52 saves for a 77.6 save percentage.
Dunleavy, who was a First Team All-SSAC performer a year ago, was again among the league's best in his senior season. Despite missing six games due to injury, the right back tallied a career-best seven assists while also providing solid cover on the RedHawks back line.
Fulton earned his spot on the All-SSAC First Team thanks to a team-best eight goals during the regular season. The Glasgow, Scotland native also added five assists for a team-best 21 points during his sophomore campaign.
Monge garnered his selection after arguably the best overall season for a RedHawk midfielder this season. The Cartago, Costa Rica native scored six goals and added seven assists for a total of 19 points despite struggling with an injury the final few contests of the year.
Remond and Madrigal earned All-SSAC Second Team honors after strong performances in the RedHawk midfield and defense. Remond scored three goals and added seven assists for the RedHawks while Madrigal scored just one goal and added one assist, but provided top-notch defense at the left back position.
Midfielder Nicolai Alstrom, who scored two goals and added one assist, was honored with a berth on the team's All-Freshman side.
Five RedHawks were honored for their academic successes as Lunney and Dunleavy joined teammates Luiz Martins, Christian Quinones and Darian Teixeria on the league's All-Academic team.
Dunleavy was also honored for his commitment to fair play and community service with a spot on the Champions of Character team.
The banquet kicked off the second half of the SSAC's Women's Soccer Championships, with games beginning on Thursday morning at the Emory Folmar YMCA Youth Soccer Complex in Montgomery.
The fourth-seeded RedHawks begin their quest of a second consecutive conference championship with a semifinal showdown against regular-season champion University of Mobile (Ala.). Kickoff in Thursday's contest is set for 4:30 p.m.
