Men's Soccer: Remond, Carroll Named NAIA All-Americans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Martin Methodist Men's Soccer junior Jonathan Remond and freshman Stephen Carroll earned NAIA All-American honors, the national office announced Tuesday.

OFFICIAL NAIA RELEASE

The duo received NAIA Honorable Mention honors after they helped guide the RedHawks to a 12-6-2 record and a conference title semifinal berth.

Remond, a midfielder from Rennes, France, led the RedHawks with six goals, eight assists and 20 overall points. The eight assists ranked No. 50 in the NAIA this season. Two of the junior's goals were match-winners and the six goals pushed the midfielder to 17 goals during his three-year career.

Carroll, a defender from Dublin, Ireland, started all 20 games as the captain for the RedHawks in 2015. The first-year performer finished with five goals on the season at the center back position – just one behind Remond for the team lead. The defender also helped anchor a backline that produced eight shutouts in 20 contests.

Remond and Carroll also landed First Team All-SSAC honors at the conference's annual awards banquet held in Montgomery, Alabama last month.

The duo continues a recent string of success for the Men's Soccer program, which has now placed at least one All-American on the list for a fourth straight season. The program has now produced eight All-Americans since the 2006 campaign.

"We are excited for Jonathan and Stephen on their great years," RedHawks head coach Chris Leonardi said. "Their ability to both find and defend the goal was huge for us this season. They were deserving candidates for these selections and we salute their achievement."
