article published by MMC Athletic Communications Intern Russell Lorentz.

PULASKI, Tenn.- The Martin Methodist Women's Basketball team never trailed in a 75-53 defeat of the University of Mobile (Ala.) Saturday afternoon in the Curry Christian Life Center.

With the win, the RedHawks (13-5, 7-1 SSAC) extend their conference win streak to six straight.

The RedHawks proved to be efficient offensively in the opening stanza and shot a steady 54 percent from the floor. Moreover, the RedHawks stifled on the defensive end as they held the Rams (7-7, 2-5) to 13 percent from the floor, and did not allow a single three-point make the entire quarter on the Rams seven attempts.

Thus, the RedHawks were able to mount their first double-digit lead at the conclusion of the first quarter, at 19-9.

The RedHawks would build the lead to as many as 12 in the second quarter, but the Rams knifed into the RedHawk lead and trimmed the deficit to six at 26-20 – the closest the Rams would be the reminder of the contest.

The RedHawks would take a 36-27 lead into the halftime break.

The RedHawk lead was largely double-digits throughout the second half and Mobile never threatened as the lead ballooned to 74-51 in the closing moments.

Three RedHawk starters scored in double-figures, led by Brooklyn Blanchard's 25-point performance. The 25 points were one shy of Blanchard's career best of 26, scored against Georgetown (Ky.) College on Nov. 19.

Mickey Head added 10 points and seven rebounds while Karson Mullens notched 10 points and added three assists.

Senior Kyoko Wade tracked down a team-high 15 rebounds in the win.

Starla Daggan led the Rams with 23 points on a 7-of-13 shooting effort.

The RedHawks will return to action on Monday Jan. 16 for an afternoon tilt with No. 20 Loyola (La.) University.

Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
