PULASKI, Tenn. – The Martin Methodist Men's Soccer team continued its electric start to the 2017 season with a 6-0 victory over Georgetown (Ky.) College Saturday night at Grissom Pitch.

After four straight victories to start the season, the RedHawks (5-0) made quick work of their visitors Saturday night with four goals in the match's opening 34 minutes. The RedHawks added two goals in the second half to put the match to bed.

The quick start to the season saw the RedHawks receiving votes in the latest edition of the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

Making his home debut, forward Juan Yepes opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a tap-in goal after a cross from Jack McCarren.

McCarren claimed a goal himself later in the period after the official awarded a penalty kick. McCarren rifled a shot into the bottom left corner that put the RedHawks ahead by a pair.

The next 10 minutes saw the RedHawks crack the game open with a pair of tallies that put the home side ahead by four goals.

Mario Lopez notched the third of the contest and Daniel Weinhandl delivered a left-footed wunderstrike in the 34th minute to cap the first half scoring.

Captain defender Marcus Stein slammed the door shut in the second half with a penalty kick goal that put the RedHawks up 5-0.

Naoya Fugono delivered 70 minutes of shutout play in net for the RedHawks and freshman backup Nathan Brown made one save in his 20 minutes of action to preserve the clean sheet.

The win was the fifth straight for the RedHawks, who are off to their best start since the 2013 side that began the year with six straight victories.

The contest marked the first of three straight home outings for the RedHawks, who will host University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) at Grissom Pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 13, before they host Oakland City University (Ind.) on Saturday, Sept. 16.
