PULASKI, Tenn. – After two hard-fought losses versus Top 5 NAIA squads, the Martin Methodist Women's Basketball team rebounded with a 58-48 victory versus Hiwassee (Tenn.) Monday night in the Curry Christian Life Center.
The RedHawks (5-3) never trailed in the contest and led by as many as 13 in the second half.
After a 27-17 lead at the break, the RedHawks were outscored by three in the third quarter, but rebounded to claim the fourth quarter and, ultimately, the game.
Three RedHawks finished in double-figures in the win, led by Samariah Thompson's 14 points. Marcia Reed finished the night with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Treasure Hunt added 10 in the victory.
On a night where neither team shot the ball particularly well, the RedHawks limited the Tigers (6-1) to just 16 made field goals and an icy 2-of-22 from beyond the arc.
The RedHawks also limited the Tigers to just five assists and forced 23 turnovers.
The RedHawks return to action this Thursday, Nov. 29, when they travel to University of Mobile (Ala.) for their SSAC conference opener.
Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at nearby Spring Hill College also located in Mobile, Alabama.
