Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A total of 10 members of the Martin Methodist Men's Soccer team were recognized Wednesday night at the 2019 Southern States Athletic Conference Soccer Awards Banquet.
Sophomore defender Harald Sollund was recognized as a First Team All-Conference selection after a strong season as the RedHawks chief center back. An All-Freshman selection a year ago, Sollund started all 18 regular-season matches for the RedHawks in 2019. Sollund scored four goals on the year, three of which came from the penalty spot, and added two assists.
Junior Jonas Arcalean garnered a Second Team All-Conference selection after a sensational first half of the year. Arcalean was one of the nation's top goalscorers through the first 12 games before he suffered an injury that held him out of the final six regular-season contests. His 14 goals still rank in the Top 35 in the nation and rank second in the conference.
Fellow junior Mario Lopez also notched a Second Team All-SSAC selection. Lopez serves as the chief playmaker for the RedHawks this season, scoring nine goals to go along with nine assists in 18 regular-season matches.
Sophomore midfielder Miguel Tizapa also earned Second Team All-SSAC honors. Tizapa logged eight goals and seven assists in the 18-game regular season.
Freshman forward Nawn Thang landed a nod on the league's All-Freshman squad after a six-goal, six-assist regular season.
Arcalean, Drew Bradford, Nathan Brown, Alex Kleczkowski, Lopez, Jonathan Munoz, Coulton Owens and Sollund all earned All-Academic honors.
The RedHawks return to action Thursday afternoon when they play No. 1 seed Mobile (Ala.). Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Alabama.
