PULASKI, Tenn. – Several records fell by the wayside Monday night as the Martin Methodist Women's Basketball team cruised to a 101-62 victory versus Life (Ga.) inside the Curry Christian Life Center.
Junior guard Faith Sherrow, who notched 32 points in the victory for the RedHawks (5-11, 4-11 MSC), set the program's all-time 3-point record as she swished home 10 triples as part of an 11-of-18 shooting performance.
Sherrow eclipsed former RedHawk standout Jessy Christopher, who notched 207 3-pointers in her career. Sherrow's 10 triples also matched her own program record for most 3-pointers in a game, a mark she set last February in a win versus Brewton-Parker (Ga.).
With the 3-point record already in tow, Sherrow also achieved another milestone as she eclipsed 1,000 career points scored.
The win also saw senior guard Nicole Shirley achieve a career milestone as she notched a career-best 17 points on a tidy 7-of-9 shooting from the floor. Shirley also went a perfect 3-for-3 at the free throw line in the victory.
Aaryn Grace Lester also achieved a new career high, scoring 15 points – eight of which came on a perfect 8-for-8 night at the free throw line.
"All in all it was a good night for the RedHawks," head coach Billy Evans said. "Faith continues to prove why she is one of the best to ever wear a RedHawk uniform and we are happy to see her achieve 1,000 career points. We were thrilled to see strong performances across the board. It was a good win, but we have two really tough opponents coming up, so we will need to work quickly and get ready for another tough conference weekend swing."
The RedHawks welcome No. 1 nationally ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) to the CLC on Thursday. The RedHawks will also celebrate Senior Day on Saturday when they host Georgetown (Ky.). Tipoff in Thursday's contest is set for 5:30 p.m. with Saturday set for a 1:30 p.m. tip.
