LEBANON, Tenn. — The Martin Methodist Softball team dropped two contests versus rival Cumberland (Tenn.) Monday afternoon to close out its 2021 regular season.
The RedHawks (9-27, 7-25 MSC) fell by a 4-1 margin in the first contest, and suffered a 6-5 defeat in the second ballgame.
Sam King was one of five RedHawks that drove in runs on the day, highlighted by a solo home run in the second ballgame of the afternoon. The home run was the sixth of the season for King, who leads the RedHawks with 23 RBIs on the season.
Kirsten Littrell had the lone other extra-base hit of the day for the RedHawks, slapping a double in the second contest of the day.
Jennifer Corbitt and Kamryn Murdock suffered the losses in the circle for the RedHawks.
The losses capped the regular season for the RedHawks, who enter the Mid-South conference tournament as the No. 9 seed and will travel to No. 4 seed Cumberlands (Ky.) later this week in the league's Opening Round series.
