Firehawks Fall to Phoenix

Lebanon, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball team ended the regular season with a 54-50 loss to Cumberland on Saturday.

FIREHAWK FACTS

  • Two Firehawks recorded 10 points or more. Faith Sherrow 13, Taylor McNairy 11.
  • UTS pulled down 41 rebounds, five more than the home squad.
  • The Firehawks would double up CU in steals 4-2.

NUMBERS GAME

   7 – Seven players scored for UTS, with three scoring eight or more.

 20 – Both teams combined for 20 assists. 10 by each team.

 13 – Sherrow's 13 points led all scorers.

 12 – UTS forced 12 Cumberland turnovers, only committing eight.

MSC TOURNAMENT

The Firehawks will be the #8 seed for the MSC tournament. They will host #9 seed Lindsey Wilson in the opening round. The top four seeds advance to quarterfinal action in Bowling Green, Ky. later next week. Seeds five-eight will host the lower four seeds. 

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will host Lindsey Wilson on Monday, February 21st at the "CAC". The winner will move on to the quarterfinals in Bowling Green, Ky., and face #1 seed Thomas More. UTS won both regular-season meetings with the Blue Raiders this season 67-63 in Pulaski and 68-51 in Columbia.
