Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team hung tough with second seed Campbellsville but fell short 5-4 on Saturday. UTS led the game until the final frame when the Tigers walked off the win.
UTS (27-25) struck first scoring three runs in the first. Bree Brady had an RBI single that scored Hayley Parrott. Shelby Clifton plated Sydney Self later in the first. Kayla Lawrence added the third run on an RBI single scoring Brady. Parrott would blast a lead-off homer in the top of the fifth to extend the Firehawk lead to 4-0. Campbellsville (35-15) would manufacture a pair of runs via a pair of sacrifice flies in the fifth to inch closer at 4-2. In the final frame, CU would have a lead-off homer to close in at 4-3. Four batters later with two outs, the Tigers would hit a walk-off two-run homer to break the Firehawk hearts. Samantha King took the loss falling to 14-7 on the year.
Coach Brandie Paul finished the season with a career record of 759-576, with a UTS record of 681-488. This was her 17th season with a win percentage over .500, and her 17th season with 25 wins or more.
