Firehawks Score a Late Pair to Double Up the Bearcats

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern used two late goals to dispatch the Brescia Bearcats 2-1 on Saturday, August 27. 

After a scoreless first half, the Bearcats got on the board in the 54th minute. UTS would blaze down the field and level the match on a header by Alejandro Blanco from the Manuel Flores assist just two minutes later. The match would stay 1-1 until the 86th minute. Flores and Blanco would pair up for the game-winner. Flores would chip in his first of the season from the Blanco helper. The Firehawks would dominate 17-5 in shots, and lead 10-2 in shots-on-goal.

Senior keeper Ajay Murray recorded one save on two chances, earning his second win of the season between the sticks.

The Firehawks will return to Grissom Pitch hosting former Southern States foe Faulkner on Wednesday, August 31st. The kickoff is set for 6 pm.
