WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball team connected on seven shots from range shooting 28 percent, but the Firehawks couldn't cool off the hot shooting Patriots in a 73-65 loss on Saturday. Three Firehawks scored in double figures in the match.

Tad Sivley became the third Firehawk recording a double-double this season. Sivley led the UT Southern (4-2) scoring attack with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Adarion Hudson tossed in 16 including three triples. Kendall Wright produced 11 points. Wright is averaging 14.7 points through six games this season. Brady Brown added 12 boards and seven points. connected on the only two Firehawk triples pitching in 11 points.

Cumberlands (6-0) got out to a big lead in the first half and held the Firehawks to 22 first half points. The home squad connected on 13 of 27 from the field. UT Southern started out cold, only making eight field goals in the first 20 minutes.

Trailing 32-22 at the half, the Firehawks would try to battle back and close the gap. The Patriots would hold UTS at bay holding around a 10-point advantage until late in the half. The Firehawks would run out of seconds on the scoreboard to only trail by eight at the final horn.

UT Southern will begin Southern States Athletic Conference play traveling to Middle Georgia on Thursday, November 16. The SSAC matchup is set to tip off at 6:30 p.m.
