No. 24 Tigers Claw the Firehawks in Opening Game of Series

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team couldn't overcome one rough inning in the opening game with #24 Campbellsville falling 18-2 on Friday.

The Firehawks would jump out to an early lead in the second. Kayla Lawrence's sacrifice fly would score Hayley Barnes. Later in the inning, Allie Toone's sacrifice bunt would allow Sydney Self to score. UTS would lead 2-0 after a pair.

The Tigers would plate a run in the third off a stolen base.

UTS would be in striking distance, but CU would burst open in the fifth scoring 17 runs on 11 hits.

Anna Aaron would take the loss tossing 4.1 innings and allowing five earned runs on six hits. Kamryn Murdock and Bailey Abernathy would combine to hurl one-third of an inning allowing 12 earned runs. Jayci Boozer would toss the final third of the fifth allowing only one hit

The Firehawks will continue the weekend series with #24 Campbellsville on Saturday, March 11th beginning at noon.
