Box Score 3 PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team had a tough task in a rare tripleheader at Royce Hughes Field on Monday. The series, which should have been contested over two days, was forced to play all three games on Monday. UTS fell 3-0 in game one, 7-2 in game two and 15-6 in the final game.
GAME ONE
LWC plated a pair of runs in the third. To lead 2-0 after three.
The Blue Raiders would add one more in the final frame.
Kamryn Murdock would toss four innings in the loss. Murdock would allow two earned runs on three hits. Stella Gilbreath would toss the final three innings. Gilbreath would allow one earned run on four hits.
GAME TWO
LWC plated a run in the third. To lead 1-0 heading to the UTS half of the third.
In the third, Kaley Ezell singled to right driving in Haley Barnes. Both squads would be tied at one after three.
In the fourth, Emily Gable would single to center scoring Carlie Pendley. UTS would lead after four 2-1.
LWC would score four runs in the fifth and a pair in the seventh to take game two.
Macey Ciramella would toss three innings in the no-decision. Ciramella would allow one earend run on four hits. Murdock would toss 1.1 innings in the loss. Murdock would allow four earned runs on five hits. Jayci Boozer would toss the final 2.2 innings. Boozer would allow two earned runs on three hits.
GAME THREE
LWC plated three runs in the first and nine in the second to lead 12-0 heading to the Firehawk half of the second.
Ezell would homer in the second to draw the home squad closer at 12-1 after two.
Mckenzie Cain would leave the park driving in Allie Toone. UTS would trail 12-3 after three.
LWC would add three in the fourth extending their lead to 15-3 after four.
In the fifth, Gilbreath would single to center driving in Cain and Megan Parrott. Mckenna Birdsong would put one in play to allow Abigail Hornbuckle to score.
Gilbreath would take the loss. She would toss one inning allowing eight earned runs on six hits. Boozer would hurl one inning giving up four earned runs on three hits. Bailey Abernathy would toss the final three frames. Abernathy would allow three earned runs on three hits.
NEXT UP
The Firehawks will welcome NCAA DII Christian Brothers to Royce Hughes Field tomorrow for a twin bill. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 pm.
