Box Score 2 CORINTH, Miss. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team dropped a pair of one run games to Blue Mountain Christian on Saturday. The twin bill was relocated to a turf field near Corinth due to heavy rains on Friday. BMCC took game one 2-1 and claimed game two 7-6.
GAME ONE
The Firehawks took the first lead of the game in the fourth. Kassidy Davis singled up the middle driving in Hayley Parrott. UTS led 1-0 after four innings.
In the sixth, the Toppers tied the game on a two-base hit. With the game still tied and down to their last out, a wild pitch from the Firehawks allowed the winning run to cross the plate.
Davis tossed 6.2 innings in the losing appearance. She allowed two earned runs on six hits and fanned five BMC batters.
GAME TWO
Blue Mountain Christian plated five in the opening frame to lead after one.
In the third, the Toppers added two more runs to lead 7-0 after three innings.
UT Southern rallied to cut into the BMC lead in the sixth. Haley Barnes singled to left scoring Allie Toone and Davis. Mikayla McCain doubled to right center scoring Barnes. BMC led 7-3 after six.
In the final inning, UT Southern pushed three more runs across. Toone singled up the middle scoring Sydney Self. Hannah Lindsey tripled to left center scoring Parrott and Toone. The Firehawks ran out of outs in the 7-6 decision.
Lilley Ernest took the loss. She allowed five earned runs on five hits in one inning of work. Ella Singletary tossed two innings. She allowed two earned runs on five hits and recorded three strikeouts. Macey Ciramella tossed the final three frames. She gave up one hit.
NEXT UP
The Firehawks travel to Memphis, Tenn., for a doubleheader with Christian Brothers on Tuesday, March 19th. The first pitch between the Bucs and Firehawks is scheduled for 2 p.m.
