MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced its weekly cross country awards, with UT Southern's Frankline Kipruto earning Men's Runner of the Week and Emma Vizina claiming Women's Runner of the Week honors for their performances during the week of October 20–26.
Kipruto, a freshman from Eldoret, Kenya, earned the recognition for the second time this season after finishing third out of 244 runners at the Appalachian Challenge. His time of 24:28 not only led the Firehawks to a fifth-place team finish but also broke the UT Southern program record for the 8K distance.
Vizina, a senior from Victoria Island, British Columbia, captured her fourth career SSAC Runner of the Week award. She posted a school-record time of 18:53 in the women's 5K at the same meet, finishing 33rd in a field of 238 runners.
