MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the 2025–26 SSAC Women's Basketball Players of the Week, with the University of Tennessee Southern sweeping the honors. Senior guard Ashley Dickey was named the SSAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, while senior guard Silkiari Vazquez-Troche earned SSAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. The awards are based on performances for the week of October 27 – November 2.
Dickey, a senior from Baltimore, Maryland, averaged 17 points per game during the Firehawks' 2–0 weekend at the Kentucky Bluegrass Classic. She scored a season-high 20 points in the comeback win over host Brescia and added 14 points in the victory over Midway. Dickey also contributed across the board with 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.5 assists per game. This marks her second career SSAC weekly honor.
Vazquez-Troche, a senior from San Juan, Puerto Rico, earned her first career weekly award after a dominant all-around performance in UT Southern's opening weekend. She averaged 10 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 5.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks over two games. In the win against Midway, she recorded 10 rebounds, six steals, and three blocks before following that with five steals and five rebounds against Brescia, helping the Firehawks lock down defensively late.
The UT Southern backcourt set the tone in both wins as the Firehawks opened the season 2–0, showcasing balance, defensive toughness, and leadership from their veteran guards.
