PULASKI, Tenn. – UT Southern Women's Basketball Head Coach Ross James has announced the addition of Cassi Whitworth as the program's new assistant coach ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Whitworth brings a strong background in coaching and player development. She most recently served as the head coach at St. Cecilia Academy in Nashville, Tenn., where she led the program for two seasons. Additionally, she has spent the past eight years coaching a 17U Under Armour AAU team, gaining valuable experience mentoring athletes at a high level.

A former student-athlete, she played four years at Cumberland University and earned her bachelor's degree in Sports Management in 2020.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to assist Coach James and help lead the UT Southern program. Go Firehawks!" said Whitworth.

"I am excited to add Cassi Whitworth to the staff. She brings great energy, strong recruiting ties, and a real talent for building relationships and developing players—she'll be a tremendous asset to our program," said James.

She will begin her duties immediately as the Firehawks prepare for the upcoming season.
