OAKVILLE, Ala. - UT Southern hosted the Firehawk Invitational and turned in a strong showing in the host event, finishing second overall in the men's 8K team standings with 58 points, just behind West Alabama's winning score of 50.
The Firehawks were led by sophomore Bruno Villazon, who captured the individual title with a winning time of 25:20.19. Freshman Frankline Kipruto followed close behind in second place at 25:41.85, giving UT Southern an early low score with the top two finishers in the field.
Adding to the scoring effort was freshman Luca Neumeister, who crossed in 13th place (26:32.79), along with sophomore Amon Rotich, who secured 18th place (26:43.72). Senior Matthew Andrea rounded out the scoring five, finishing 24th overall in 27:06.00.
Senior JJ Lincoln (39th, 27:51.85) and freshman Jacob Casteel (48th, 28:12.55) also competed as displacers, helping to bolster UT Southern's depth.

UT Southern will return to action on Thursday, September 26, when they travel to Tallahassee, Florida to compete in the Florida State University Invitational. The event will bring together a competitive field from across multiple divisions, providing the Firehawks another strong early-season test.
